Transportation Satellite Accounts (TSA), produced by the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, provides measures of national transportation output. TSA includes both in-house and for-hire transportation services. For-hire transportation services are provided by transportation firms to industries and the public on a fee basis, such as railroads, transit agencies, common carrier trucking companies, and pipeline companies. In-house transportation includes transportation services that take place within non-transportation industries, such as retail goods distributed to the point of purchase by the retailer.
Available data series include 1) transportation inputs by industry, 2) transportation outputs by industry, and 3) use of transportation by industry.
