   Overview
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by Industry, provided by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, contains data on the nationwide GDP for transportation industries. Air, rail, transit, pipeline, trucking and warehousing, and water transportation are included in the transportation industries figures. An expanded version of this set includes components of GDP and employment data for each industry and contains data from as early as 1947. The data may be used to measure the general economic importance of transportation and the importance of each transportation mode.
