Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS) - Census File |
Overview |
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) operates and maintains the Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS). MCMIS Census File contains information on the safety fitness of commercial motor carriers and hazardous material shippers subject to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR).
The Census File contains records for approximately 575,000 active entities, i.e., motor carriers, hazardous materials shippers, both a carrier and a shipper, or registrants (entities who register vehicles but are not carriers). MCMIS assigns a unique number to each entity record and assigns it a status of active or inactive. |
